Bloodwraith are a band from West Virginia that plays an old school form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 demo "The Omnipresent Darkness".
A very dark and melodic guitar riff starts off the demo and after a few seconds grim black metal screams start becoming a very huge part of the recording and the music has a very raw and old school feeling at times along with some depressive elements being utilized at times and there is also a brief use of grim spoken word parts.
At times the vocals can be melodic but done in a more tortured fashion while also being clear at times and when the music speeds up elements of thrash can be heard along with the drums also bringing in blast beats and the solos and leads also remain true to an old school style of extreme metal while also being very melodic at times and there is also a brief use of clean playing and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Bloodwraith plays a style of black metal that is very raw and 90's influenced and also brings in melodies and elements of thrash to resurrect an old school style of the genre, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Bloodwraith are a very great sounding raw and old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Desecrating Metal" and "The Return Of Winter Darkness". 8 out of 10.
