Christ Agony are a band from Poland that has been featured before in this zine and plays a melodic form of dark/black metal and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Black Blood" which will be released by Witching Hour Productions.
A very dark, heavy, raw, melodic and atmospheric black/death metal sound starts off the album along with some blast beats and melodic chants that evolve into grim screams while also keeping around the chanting and after awhile the songs start bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and some of the slower riffs bring in a touch of doom metal along with a couple of the tracks being long and epic in length and all of the songs avoid using any solos and leads and mostly capture the atmosphere and melody with the guitar riffing while there is also a brief use of acoustic guitars.
Christ Agony creates another recording that is mostly rooted in raw and melodic black metal but also adds in a touch of death and doom metal to expand on the style of dark metal that they have established on previous recordings, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Christ Agony and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Coronation". 8 out of 10.
