Otargos are a band from France that has had an album reviewed before in this zine and plays a modern style of black metal that they mix in with death, thrash, industrial and a touch of gothic metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Xeno Kaos" which will be released in November by Kaotoxin Records.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album along with some melodic guitar leads that dominate throughout the recording along with the riffs using a great amount of melody which also leads to the music going into a very fast blackened death metal direction that also uses a great amount of brutal blast beats.
Vocals are mostly death metal growls while black metal screams can also be heard at times and their are a lot of atmospheric and experimental sound s to be heard in some parts of the songs and the music also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the fast riffs bring in more of a raw style of black metal at times.
At times the melodies bring in a touch of gothic metal and there are also some songs that incorporate a small amount of spoken word samples and as the album progresses the band starts incorporating more underground industrial elements and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and there are also one of the tracks is long and epic in length while later songs also bring in a small amount of orchestra sounds.
Otargos creates another recording that is mostly rooted in blackened death metal while also mixing in more industrial, experimental and orchestra elements this time around, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover quantum psychics, chaos, muliverse evilness, alien predation, and the Warhammer 40K RPG.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Otargos and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Chariots Ov the Gods" "Xeno Kaos" and "Human Terminate". 8 out of 10.
