Thy Worshiper are a band from Poland that re-located to Ireland that has been featured before in this zine and plays a pagan form of black metal with a touch of folk and death metal and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Ozimina" by Arachnophobia Records.
Heavy beats start off the ep along with some tribal sounds in the background and a few seconds later the music goes into a very fast and raw black metal direction along with some blast beats and angry screams and they also mix in the clean medieval folk parts in with the heavier sections of the music.
Female vocals can be heard in some parts of the songs and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and they also mix in elements of ethnic music along with some acoustic guitars being used at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and as the ep progresses the riffs start bringing in more melodies and a great amount of the music is very ritualistic in style and the music brings back a long lost pagan atmosphere and when solos and leads are used they are very melodic and the heavier side brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Thy Worshiper creates another recording that is still very heavily rooted in the pagan/black metal sound of previous recordings while also making the ethnic and folk music elements have more of a powerful presence this time around, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Polish and cover Paganism, War, Nature and Darkness.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Thy Worshiper and if you are a fan of ethnic and folk influenced pagan/black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Brzask" and "Wsrod Cieni i Mgiel". 8 out of 10.
