VI are a band from France that plays a very fast, raw and heavy form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "De Praestigiis Angelorum" which was released by Agonia Records.
a very dark, atmospheric and ritualistic intro starts off the album along with some distorted noises and after the intro the music goes into a very fast and raw black metal direction along with some high pitched screams and a great amount of brutal blast beats and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and when solos and leads are utilized they are very dark and melodic sounding and you can also hear synths in the backgrounds at times and they also get more powerful at times and also ad in choirs while the main focus is more on a guitar driven sound, a few of the songs are very long and epic in length and some of the guitar riffing brings in melodies at times along with a brief use of clean playing and the songs have more of a modern and complex black metal style to them.
VI plays a style of black metal that is very fast at times while also having a ritualistic atmosphere at times and the music remain true to the French style of the genre and you can hear a great amount of talent and skill in the way the band composes their songs, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in French and cover devotion themes.
In my opinion VI are a very great sounding fast and raw black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Par Le Judgement Cause Par Ses Poisons" "Une Place Parmi Les Morts" and "Plus Aucun Membre Ne Sera Rendu'. 8 out of 10.
