The Fifth Alliance are a band from the Netherlands and on this recording plays a mixture of post black and sludge metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "The Depths Of The Darkness" which will be released on August 30th by Consouling Sounds.
Clean playing starts off the album while all of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the slower sections of the songs bringing in elements of sludge and doom metal. Clear vocals can also be heard in some parts of the music and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Black metal screams are also a very huge part of the recording while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Elements of post metal are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording.
The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody as well as the guitar leads being done in a melodic style when t hey are utilized, clean playing also makes a return on some of the later tracks. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from The Fifth Alliance which shows the music going into more of a mixture of post black, sludge and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black" and "Into Extinction". 8 out of 10.
