Advent Sorrow are a band from Australia that plays a depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Kali Yuga Crown" which will be released in September by Werewolf.
Synths start off the album while clean playing can also be heard in the background briefly before going into more of a heavier and depressive direction which also uses tortured sounding black metal screams along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic direction and during the faster sections of the songs a decent amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs more of a raw feeling while the tracks also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Spoken word samples are also brought onto one of the tracks along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and one track also introduces clean singing onto the recording and the closing track is very long and epic in length.
Advent Sorrow plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric and depressive sounding. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover murder, psychopathy, and lunacy themes.
In my opinion Advent Sorrow are a very great sounding depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wolfhook And Weapon" "Kali Yuga Crown" "Wells Of Poison Water" and "Death In Magic Antagonism". 8 out of 10.
