Altars Of The Moon are a band from the United States that plays an experimental form of post black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Brahmastra" which will be released on August 20th by Disorder Recordings.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times. All of the drum beats are also programmed along with the only track present on this recording being almost 30 minutes in length and clean vocals are also a very huge part of the album.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic post metal style while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. At times the music also gets very experimental and avant garde sounding along with some whispers also being utilized briefly as well as the music also capturing the more atmospheric side of black metal and the whole album also sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
Altars of the Moon plays a style of post black metal that is very experimental and avant garde sounding as well as avoiding the use of any harsh er vocals. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are based upon the ancient Hindu poem "Brahmastra" which also hints upon the early use of nuclear weapons.
In my opinion Altars Of the Moon are a very great sounding experimental and avant garde post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. 8 out of 10.
