Auslöschung are a solo project from Sweden that plays a very cold and nihilistic form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2021 album "On The Heights Of Despair".
Spoken word parts start off the album before going into more of a heavier yet lo-fi direction while all of the drum beats are programmed. When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the vocals being a mixture of high pitched black metal screams and evil sounding growls.
Clean playing can also be heard on some of the tracks while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a small amount of melody also being added into some of the riffing.
All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with some clean vocal samples also being utilized as well as the music also adding in some influences from t he 90's to early 2000's era, spoken word parts also return on the later tracks and whispered vocals can also be heard briefly towards the end. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in a mixture of English and Swedish and cover nihilism, despair, darkness and melancholy themes.
In my opinion Auslöschung are a very great sounding cold and nihilistic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "4 oktober 1903" "The Beauty And Brutality of Emotion" and "Döden som vilja & föreställning". 8 out of 10.
