Wooden Throne are a solo project from Finland that plays an epic form of black metal and this is a review of his 2021 album "Under The Moon They Wander Until Fading Away" which will be released in September by Purity Through Fire.
A very heavy, melodic and epic sound starts off the album while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the solos and leads also adding in a great amount of melody and synths are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs.
The songs also add in a decent mixture of both old school and modern influences while also adding in some touches of ambient at times. All of the drum beats are programmed along with a couple of the songs also being instrumentals and all of the music also sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
Wooden throne plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric, epic and synth orientated. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover nature, darkness and sorrow themes.
In my opinion Wooden Throne are a very great sounding epic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "At The Sorrows Chamber" and "Return Into Shadows". 8 out of 10.
