Dold Vorde Ens Navn are a band from Norway that plays a Norwegian style of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 ep "Gjengangere I Hjertets Morke" which will be released in September by Soulseller Records.
Dark soundscapes along with some clean vocals start off the ep before going into a heavier direction. All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are in between shouting and grim black metal screams as well as the music also adding in a touch of punk rock at times.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the riffs also add in a small amount of dark sounding melodies. Clean playing can also be heard briefly along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling when they are utilized.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very chaotic yet old school extreme metal style as well as having their melodic moments. Blast beats can also be heard during the faster sections of the songs which are very heavily rooted in the Norwegian style and as the ep progresses acoustic guitars can be heard briefly. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Dold Vorde Ens Navn are a very great sounding Norwegian black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Drukkenskapens Kirkegard" and "Blodets Hvisken". 8 out of 10.
