Geistaz' Ika are a band from Denmark that plays a raw and old school from of Nordic black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Trolddomsejd i skovens dybe kendal" which will be released in August by Signal Rex.
Classical guitars starts off the album along with some percussion's a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction. The riffs also bring in a great amount of melodies while the faster sections of the songs also use a great amount of blast beats and the music are mostyl grim sounding black metal s creams.
Clean vocals can also be heard briefly while the tremolo picking riffs also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. All if the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with most of the tracks being very long and epic in length and throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
A lot of the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's as well as the guitar leads being done in a very melodic style as well as some classical guitars also making a return on later tracks, deep demonic growls can also be heard briefly and as the album progresses a brief use of whispered vocal and keyboards are also brought into the music The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Danish and cover superstition, witchery and folklore themes.
In my opinion Geistaz' Ika are a very great sounding raw and old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nar Solen Bloder Rod" and "Tagedans". 8 out of 10.
