Ezov are a duo from Sweden that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a very aggressive and avant garde of occult black metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Cui Peccare Licet Peccat Minus" which was released by War Productions.
Record player sounds along with some early 20th century singing samples start off the ep before going into a heavier musical direction. Vocals are done in a very angry black emtal style while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
A couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Ritualistic spoken word parts can also be heard briefly while the music also adds in some dissonant and avant garde structures at times.
Whispers can also be heard briefly along with one track also adding in a small amount of guitar amp orientated drones. At times the music also gets very experimental sounding without losing any of its raw aggression and one track also introduces guitar leads onto the recording. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Occultism and theology themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ezov and if you are a fan of aggressive and avant garde black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Temptations Of Eve". 8 out of 10.
