Impavida are a duo from Germany that plays a very atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Antipode" which will be released on July 12th by Van Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while elements of ambient are also mixed into the heavier sections of the music at times and the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams.
A couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the songs also bring in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Synths can also be heard in some parts of the music along with the tracks also bringing in a decent amount of distorted sounding melodies as well as the music also having its atmospheric moments.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while most of the tracks also brings clean guitars into the music and spoken word parts are added onto the closing track. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the sanctification and destruction of the holy and corporeal
In my opinion Impavida are a very great sounding atmospheric and depressive ambient black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Demons' Eerie Flutes Accompany With the Decay Of Corpses Defiled" and "The First Flame Initiates The Cleansing Of Putrid Terrestrial Spirits". 8 out of 10.
