Mylingar are a band from Sweden that plays a very aggressive mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Doda Sjalar" which will be released in August by as a joint effort between 20 Buck Spin and Armor Fati Productions.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking while also mixing in elements of war metal. Dissonant structures can also be heard in some parts of the music along with the vocals bringing in a mixture of death metal growls and black emtal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly along with the music also getting very atmospheric yet remaining brutal at the same time in some parts of the recording.
Dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar rifling as well as the music also getting very technical sounding at times, when guitars are utilized briefly they are done in a very chaotic style and the closing track is very long and epic in length. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover claustrophobic oppression and pestilence themes.
In my opinion Mylingar are a very great sounding aggressive mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Obalansen" and "Forlusten". 8 out of 10.
