Nor are a solo project from Italy that plays an instrumental and atmospheric form of post black metal and this is a review of his 2019 album "Octagon" which was released on cassette by Mosphanic.
A very heavy, dark and melodic sound starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also use a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic style and a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while synths are also added into some parts of the music. At times the music gets very atmospheric sounding along with some spoken word parts also being used briefly and clean playing is also added into certain sections of the recording.
Elements of soundtrack and post rock are also added into some parts of the music as well as the slower sections of the songs showing some doom metal influences, and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound along with all of the songs sounding very different from each other, as the album progresses a brief use of female vocals can be heard and the production sounds very professional.
In my opinion Nor are a very great sounding instrumental and atmospheric post black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Qualcuno combatte in una battaglia" "Of What Is Past, Or passing, or To Come" and "Festa Pagana". 8 out of 10.
