Sanctvs are a solo project from Quebec, Canada that plays an occult and suffocating form of black metal and this is a review of his 2019 album "Mors Aeterna" which will be released in October by Sepulchral Productions.
Keyboards and ritualistic spoken chants start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while most of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
The riffs also use a great amount of melody along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them. Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while synths are mixed into the heavier sections of the music as well as the solos and leads being done in a very melodic and atmospheric musical direction, grim clean vocals can also be heard briefly and as the album progresses a brief use of clean playing can be heard.
Sanctvs plays a style of occult black metal that is very raw and suffocating while also being modern at the same time but also capturing the aggression of the old school era. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover darkness, occult, anti Christianity and death themes.
In my opinion Sanctvs is a very great sounding occult and suffocating black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Roi omnipotent, Saintete malefique" and "Et sincde les chaines qui le lient a Yahweh". 8 out of 10.
