Burier are a solo project from Australia that plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of his self titled 2019 demo which will be released on cassette in October by Goatowarex.
Night sound start off the demo before going into a heavier direction while spoken parts can also be heard in the background briefly. When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the music also capturing a very raw and lo-fi atmosphere as well as the solos and leads being done in a very old school style.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams. A great amount of 90's era French influences can also be heard in the music along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Clean playing can also be heard briefly as well as a couple of tracks also introducing synths onto the recording along with one of the songs also being very long and epic in length and as the ep progresses a brief use of demonic growls can also be heard and at times the guitar leads also have their melodic moments. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover death, darkness, pestilence and plague themes.
In my opinion Burier are a very great sounding raw, old school and lo-fi black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "On Winged Leeches of Ash" and "The Grand Failure". 8 out of 10.
