The Kryptik are a duo from Brazil that plays a synth orientated form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "When The Shadow Rises" which will be released on Halloween by Purity Through Fire.
Synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music while also having their symphonic moments at times. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
The riffs also add in a decent amount of melody while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black metal screams along with a great portion of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's. Acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly on a couple of tracks as well as one track also introducing spoken word parts onto the recording and one of the later songs is an instrumental, growls can also be heard on the closing track. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Darkness, Satanism, Anti Religion and Evil themes.
In my opinion The Kryptik are a very great sounding synth orientated black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Awakening Of Evil" and "Ungodly". 8 out of 10.
