REM is a solo project from Hungary that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of his self released "Poklade".
A very dark and noise orientated intro starts off the ep before going into a very heavy, raw and old school direction which also introduces grim yet high pitched black metal screams onto the recording as well as the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave style.
All of the riffing is done on power chords while also avoiding all melodies or guitar leads as well as showing a punk rock like aggression at times and all of the music also sticks to more of a mid tempo style and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
REM plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Hungarian and cover a tradition in their home country known as 'busojaras'.
In my opinion REM are a very great sounding raw black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sotet Malaszt" and "Hevit". 8 out of 10.
