Wolf's Source where a solo project from Russia that played a very raw and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his 2007 album "Ремиссия духа" which will be re-issued on vinyl in October of 2019 by Goatowarex.
Clean playing starts off the album and on the second track the music goes into a heavier musical direction. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with the vocals being mostly grim black metal screams.
A great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. All of the drum beats are also programmed along with the riffs also adding in a small amount of melody at times as well as some keyboards also being added into some parts of the music.
At times the songs also have their depressive moments while the guitar solos and leads when they are utilized remain very true to an old school style as well as some clean playing also making a return in certain sections of the recording and a couple of the tracks are also instrumental. The production sounds very dark and r aw with all of the songs being recorded in prison where the main person was serving an 8 year sentence for murder while the lyrics cover death, fading, pain and evil themes.
In my opinion Wolf's Source where a very great sounding raw and depressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE " Умирающая реальность" and "Дорога одиночества". 8 out of 10.
