Wulfaz are a duo from Denmark that plays a runic form of black metal with some elements of raw punk and this is a review of their 2020 ep "Sotes Runer" which will be released in May by TONEwood Music.
Distorted sounds start off the ep before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Melodies can also be heard in some of the riffing while the vocals also add in a grim black metal approach as well as being very heavily rooted in the 90's era.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music also captures the raw energy of punk rock. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and all of the tracks also stick to a heavier musical direction as well as the closing track also introducing growling vocals and spoken word parts onto the recording.
Wulfaz plays a style of viking black metal that is very heavily rooted in the 90's era while also mixing in the raw energy of punk rock, The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Danish and cover viking themes.
In my opinion Wulfaz are a very great sounding runic black metal duo with some elements of raw punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Sotes Runer". 8 out of 10.
