Titaan is a solo project from an unknown area that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "ITIMA" which will be released in April by ATMF.
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the album while voices can also be heard in the background briefly. before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the faster sections of the music also bring in a great amount of blast beats.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the music more of a raw feeling while the only track presented on the album is over 45 minutes in length. Avant garde elements can also be heard at times along with the recording also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with some synths also being added in some parts of the recording. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them as well as the spoken word parts also enhancing the ritualistic atmosphere of the recording when they are utilized.
Clean vocals are also added into some parts of the recording as well as the music also having its experimental moments. Acoustic guitars, percussion's which also gives the music more of a shamanistic atmosphere, stringed instruments and classical music elements can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover occultism, magick, cosmology, cosmogony and ancient Mesopotamic beliefs.
In my opinion Titaan is a very great sounding occult black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. 8/5 out of 10.
