Narrenwind are a band with members from Poland and Norway that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a very epic, atmospheric and progressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 single "The Joker, The Thief And The D.R.A.G.O.N" which was released by Wheelwright Productions and consists of one original track and a Bob Dylan cover.
Clean playing starts off the single along with some spoken word parts a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are done in a very deep style while the music also mixes in elements of 70's progressive rock as well as both of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the solos and leads also add in more of a classic rock style. Their cover track is also more heavier and different than the original version and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo style as well as spoken word parts also being used on both songs, psychedelic touches can also be heard at times.
On this recording Narrenwind takes their music into more of a progressive blackened metal direction. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Shamanism and Mythology themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Narrenwind and if you are a fan of progressive black metal, you should check out this single. RECOMMENDED TRACK "All ALong The Watchtower". 8 out of 10.
