Brahmastrika are a duo from India that plays a mixture of war, black, death metal and noise and this is a review of their 2019 dmeo "Excarnastrial Commencination" which was re-issued in 2020 by Dunkelheit Productions.
Harsh noises start off the demo along with some spoken word samples also being used briefly before going into a heavier direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with some bestial growls also being a very huge part of the recording.
The music also adds in a decent amount of 90's influences along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Tribal beats can also be heard briefly and also gives the music more of a shamanistic and ritualistic atmosphere, tortured cries can also be heard briefly.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent amount of black metal elements as well as some spoken word samples also making a return in certain sections of the demo, chants can also be heard briefly. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style and the closing track is very long and epic in length. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover Vedic/Hindu Mythology, Occult Rituals, Blasphemy, War and Perversion themes.
In my opinion Brahmastrika are a very great sounding mixture of war, black, death metal and noise and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Irradiated Ejaculate Onto The Swasti-Quasar" and "Sulphorous Detonations Engulf The Throne Of Elohim". 8/5 out of 10.
