Grim Tormentor is a solo project from the United Kingdom that plays a raw and atmospheric mixture of occult black and doom metal and this is a review of his 2020 album "Inferno" which was released by Nailed Nazarene Industries.
Ritualistic sounding synths start off the album while the only track that is presented on the recording is over 72 minutes in length. Elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the music while the solos and leads are done in a very dark yet melodic style when they are utilized.
All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while demonic sounding spoken word parts can be heard briefly. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the song more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the music also having its atmospheric moments. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as some regular sounding spoken word parts also being utilized at times, the song also brings in a great amount of 90's influences and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Occultism and Antichrist themes.
In my opinion Grim Tormentor are a very great sounding raw and atmospheric mixture of occult black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. 8 out of 10.
