Unreality In One's Self are a solo project from Greece that plays a mixture of atmospheric black metal, post rock, shoegaze and dark jazz and this is a review of his self released 2020 album "Self Exiled".
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album and also use a variety of many different keys while also mixing in some elements of dark jazz and also mixing in with the heavier sections of the music. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while all of the drum beats are programmed while elements of post rock are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording. All of the tracks are also instrumentals along with some tracks also adding in a good amount of clean playing.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with some touches of shoegaze also being added into some parts of the recording. As the album progresses a brief use of tremolo picking can also be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling and Spanish guitars can also be heard on the outro, the whole album also sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction and the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion Unreality In One's Self is a very great sounding mixture of atmospheric black metal, post rock, shoegaze and dark jazz and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Self Exiled" "Queen Of Them All" and "I'm A Corpse Looking For My Grave".8 out of 10.
