Glora Nexus are a solo project from Indonesia with some session musicians and plays a very aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of his 2021 ep "A Grand Monumental To Mortality" which was released as a joint effort between Bhumidhuka and Harsh Productions.
A very dark synth orientated intro starts off the ep along with a brief use of ritualistic sounding bells before going into a heavier musical direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while some of the deeper vocals also add in a touch of death metal and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some stringed instruments also being utilized briefly.
Some of the riffing also shows an influence of thrash metal and as the ep progresses synths return briefly on a couple of tracks and there is also a brief use of classical guitars before returning back to a heavier direction as well as the songs also adding in some session work from members of Hellfro, Tarawangsawelas, Blodwen and Devoured along with some throat singing also being used towards the end. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover a manifestation of the chaos of today's world.
In my opinion Glora Nexus are a very great sounding aggressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Verboten Vibes" and "Death Omnipotent, Death Omnipresent". 8 out of 10.
