Tristwood are a band from Austria that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of avant garde, industrial, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Dystopia et Disturbia" which will be re-issued on June 18th, 2021 by Visionaire Productions.
Industrial style beats and synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times. Vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls while melodies are also added into some of the riffing and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Samples are also added on some of the tracks along with one track also introducing clean playing onto the recording as well as the tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, the music also has its avant garde moments and as the album progresses an instrumental can also be heard.
On this recording Tristwood took black and death metal and mixed it with avant garde and industrial to create something very different. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Agnosticism and War themes.
In my opinion this was another great sounding recording form Tristwood and if you are a fan of avant garde, industrial, black and death metal, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dystopia Et Disturbia" "Chamaeleon Bizzare" and "Jythand". 8 out of 10.
