Sweden's solo project DÖMD has returned with a new recording which continues the raw style of black metal from his previous releases and this is a review of his self released 2021 demo "Ond gutnisk tro".
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the demo while also introducing blast beats onto the recording. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody as well as the music also adding in a decent amount of 90's second wave era influences.
When tremolo picking is utilized during the faster sections of the songs they also give the music more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when guitar leads are finally utilized on a couple of tracks they are also done in a very melodic style as well as one track also adding in a brief use of spoken word parts.
On this recording DÖMD has remained true to the raw style of black metal that he has established on previous releases. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover the myths and folklore of The Gotland's Heathen Culture.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from DÖMD and if you are a fan of raw black metal, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The mass Graves Of Visby" and "Ubbo-Sathia". 8 out of 10.
