Animal Man Machine are a solo project from Greece that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of his 2021 album "Until We See The Light" which was released by Caverna Abismal Records which also consists of his 2020 ep "The Cruelty of Light" as bonus tracks.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the music also adding in a good mixture of both old school and modern influences.
Synths are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs at times and also gives the music more of a dark atmosphere. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some whispered vocals also being utilized on some of the tracks and all of the musical instruments also gave a very powerful sound to them.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with a couple of songs also being brief dungeon synth interludes before returning back to a heavier direction as well as one track also adding in a brief use of clean playing, as the album progresses ther e is also a brief use of melodic yet ritualistic chants. The first bonus track also adds in a b rief use of acoustic guitars before going into a heavier direction and the earlier material shows a lot more of a 90's style than the newer material. The production sounds very dark and r aw while the lyrics cover Luciferian, Occultism, Darkness and Evil themes.
In my opinion Animal Man Machine are a very great sounding occult black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Transformation" "Forces of Evil" "Enter The Darkness" and "Telos". 8 out of 10.
