This is a review of a split album between Germany's Eisregen and Goat Funeral called "bitterböse" which will be released on June 18th, 2021 by Massacre and we will start off the review with Eisregen who return with their dark mixture of black and gothic metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some horror movie style keyboards which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times as well as having their gothic moments. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style.
Clear vocals can also be heard in some parts of their side of the recording along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of blast beats. When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling as well as all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and the tracks also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some clean playing also being utilized briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover death, gore, cannibalism, necrophilia and murder themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Eisregen and if you are a fan of this band, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bitterböse" and "Nur eine weitere Leiche im Wald".
Next up is Goat Funeral who return with t heir satanic and occult style of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some ritualistic sounding synths, drum beats and whispered voices before going into a heavier musical direction. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the synths also mixing in with the heavier sections of the music at times. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in a mixture of English and German and cover Goats, Satanism, Luciferian, Occultism and Darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Goat Funeral and if you are a fan of satanic and occult black metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Spoon Full Of Peace" and "Satan Calls".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of German black metal. 8 out of 10.
