Xanathar are a band from Italy that plays a very raw and epic mixture of black, doom and heavy metal and this is a review of their 2021 ep "Darkmoon" which will be released on June 25th by Spirit Coffin Publishing.
Epic sounding synths start off the ep before going into a heavier direction while melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing. Vocals are a mixture of high pitched black metal screams and traditional metal style clean playing while elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the songs.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling as well as the tracks also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Xanathar plays a musical style that takes a raw form of black metal and mixes it with doom and heavy metal to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and r aw while the lyrics are based upon the Dark Moon game.
In my opinion Xanathar are a very great sounding raw and epic mixture of black, doom and heavy metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Descending Into The Darkness". 8 out of 10.
