Botgörelsen are a solo project from Sweden that plays a very experimental form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2021 album "Att Kuva det Upproriska Köttet".
Dark yet melodic guitar riffing starts off the album while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams that also have their deep and angry moments along with most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
At times the music also gets very experimental and avant garde sounding without losing any aggression while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard along with the tremolo picking also giving t he songs more of a raw feeling.
The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a couple of tracks also adding in some angry sounding spoken words as well as the music also capturing a very depressive atmosphere at times, when synths are utilized briefly they also give the music more of an atmospheric feeling. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover darkness, evil, death and anti religion themes.
In my opinion Botgörelsen are a very great sounding experimental black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "De Fallfärdigas Vallfärd" and "Skänklåt till Solen". 8 out of 10.
