N'Zwaa are a solo project from new Hampshire that plays an occult mixture of psychedelic black metal and ritualistic noise with some elements of death, doom and thrash metal and this is a review of his self released 20219 album "Maha Kali".
Ritualistic sounding bells and drones start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostyl grim yet high pitched black metal screams while the riffs also mix in elements of death and thrash metal.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Death metal growls are also added into some parts of the recording along with the slower sections of the songs showing an influence of doom metal.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some dark sounding melodies also being added into some of the guitar riffing. Some of the tracks are also long and epic in length as well as some songs also adding in a small amount of psychedelic sounds and noises, as the album progresses a brief use of Hindu style chants can also heard and growls can also be heard in certain sections of the recording. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are chants to Hindu Devi Kali Maa.
In my opinion N'Zwaa are a very great sounding occult mixture of psychedelic black metal and ritualistic noise with some elements of doom, death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Kali Ma Jayanti" "Maha Kali" and "Adya Dhyanam". 8/5 out of 10.
