Hrid are a band from Croatia that plays a very raw and primitive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2012 demo "Behold the Lord's Barbaricvm" which was released by Khaotopia productions.
Intro: Locus De lapsu" begins with thunder sounds and Gregorian chants as well as serving as an introduction for the demo.
"Testimonium" begins with some heavy old school black metal guitar riffs and drums which also lead up to some grim sounding screams and after awhile the music starts adding in some dark sounding melodies and towards the end the music gets alot more fast and primitive along with a brief use of demonic growls and the song closes with some melodic guitar leads.
"Draco Ira: Prophetia" begins with some fast, raw and primitive black metal guitar riffs along with some drums which lead to some grim vocals along with some old school style riffing and demonic deep vocals and you can hear some aggressive shouting being utilized briefly and then the song starts slowing down a bit and going into a more mid paced direction but also returns to the faster parts in certain sections of the song and after 5 minutes the music starts and goes more into nature sounds and synths as well as some acoustic guitars which are mixed down low.
Song lyrics are written in Croatian and seem to cover dark themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound along with the bass guitars being mixed down low in the mix as well as the last song being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Hrid are a very great sounding raw and primitive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Draco Ira: Prophetia". RECOMMENDED BUY.
