Satanic Dystopia are a band from England that plays a mixture of second wave black metal and thrash and this is a review of their 2013 cassette "Double Denim Shotgun Massacre" which was released by NoVisibleScars.
"Double Denim Shotgun Massacre" begins with horror movie spoken word samples and guitar distortion which leads to some aggressive black/thrash guitar riffing, distorted bass, drums and grim black metal vocals as well as the song mixing in some primitive elements as well as switching back and forth between slow and fast parts.
"Steel Breeze" begins with heavy thrash guitar riffing, distorted bass and drums which leads to the vocals kicking in and the song mixes first and second wave black metal elements together along with a variety of many different style riffs being utilized while keeping it simple at the same time.
"Nuclear Nightmare" starts off with a more up beat sound this time around with the guitars, drums and vocals and you can hear some punk influences getting mixed into the song while also remaining true to black and thrash metal.
"Blood, Spit, And Concrete" begins with primitive black metal guitar riffing and drums before getting more 80's influences in the riffing and adding in the vocals as well as keeping around the early 90's elements and after awhile the music slows down and adds in spoken word parts and you can hear some melody coming out of the guitar riffing and the bass playing has a semi grind tome.
"Bastard Squad" begins with some primitive black/thrash guitar riffs and drums which leads to some growls and screams kicking in before adding in a different style of riff in the middle and speeding up shortly after that.
"Tombstone Queen" begins with some slow guitar and bass riffs along with some drums before getting a little bit heavier and bringing in the old school black metal vocals and as the song moves on you can hear alot of first wave elements without the song being all one dimensional.
"Black Stallion" begins with heavy bass and guitar riffs along with some drums which leads to the vocals kicking in and the song goes for more of a mid paced approach while still adding in slow parts.
"Satanic Dystopia" begins with some horror movie samples before kicking into primitive black metal guitars and bass riffing along with some fast drums which lead to the vocals to kick in and as the song moves on the riffs start utilizing some melody at times.
Song lyrics cover Satanism, Violent and Hateful themes, while the production has a very old school, raw and primitive sound while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Satanic Dystopia are a very great sounding hybrid of second wave black metal and thrash and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Double Denim Shotgun Massacre" "Bastard Squad" and "Satanic Dystopia". RECOMMENDED BUY.
