Moonknight is a 1 man project that plays a very old school form of black metal with elements of thrash and this is a review of his 2013 ep "Senmorta" which was released by Rising Beast Recordings.
"Street Rot City" begins with some thrash style guitar riffs which lead to some drums kicking in and then the blackened thrash vocals start kicking in along with some deep demonic growls and towards the end there is a brief use of guitar leads and solos.
"Usurpers" begins with some old school guitar riffs and grim black metal screams and after awhile melodic guitar leads and powerful bass guitars start kicking in along with some thrash elements and the song is less than 2 minutes.
"ARS" begins with some old school style thrash guitar riffs which lead to some fast drumming, melodic guitar riffs and grim vocals while also keeping around the thrash elements.
"A Dying Star" begins with some melodic guitar riffs, powerful bass guitars and drums and towards the end it starts getting fast and primitive along with some black metal screams.
"Phantom World" begins with some primitive and melodic old school black/thrash guitars which start getting faster and starts adding in blast beasts from the drums and black metal vocals and after awhile you can hear some melodic guitar leads being utilized briefly as well as some primitive black metal elements while also sticking to a more old school thrash formula.
Song lyrics cover dark themes, while the production has a very dark, old school raw and primitive sound with only the last song being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Moonknight are a very great sounding old school, raw and primitive black/thrash project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Usurpers" and "Phantom World". RECOMMENDED BUY.
