Wardaemonic are a band from Australia that plays an ancient and streamlined form of black metal with some war metal elements and this is a review of their 2006 album "Through The Dank Pale Graveyards" which was released by Aussie Bastard Records.
"On Death's Wings" begins with some epic sounding keyboards along with some drum beats and serves as an intro for the album.
"Ancient Gate" begins with some fast and heavy black/war metal guitar riffs, brutal blast beats and grim black metal vocals and after awhile it slows down for a few seconds before getting fast again and adding in some heavy bass guitars which then leads to the song switching back and forth between slow and fast parts as well as adding in some melody in t he riffing and demonic growls.
"Through The Dank Pale Gravelands" begins with some fast, primitive and melodic guitar riffs along with some drums and after awhile the grim black metal vocals start kicking in and as the song moves on you can hear some bass guitars in t he background and after awhile there is a brief use of guitar leads which slow down the song and take it in a cleaner direction along with some background synths before getting heavy again but adding in more slow and mid paced sections this time around.
"Voice From The Winds" begins with some fast and primitive guitar riffs and drums which lead to the grim vocals to kick in as well as mixing in some blast beats and bass guitars and as the song moves on it starts mixing in some mid paced parts while still keeping around the faster elements as well as the guitar riffing mixing in some melody.
"Nocturnal Summonings" is a dark ambient piece that alos utilizes some black metal style vocals and is less than 2 minutes.
"The Return Of The Dark Ages" begins with some fast and heavy guitar riffs, bass and drums which in return leads to some grim war/black metal vocals as well as switching back and forth between slow and mid paced parts and a few minutes later the song goes into a cleaner direction with some acoustic guitars before getting fast and heavy again and bringing in some chaotic sounding guitar leads along with the guitar riffs adding in some melody.
"Winds Of Hate" begins with some fast and primitive guitar riffs along with some drums which leads to some grim vocals, blast beats and powerful bass playing as well as switching back and forth between mid paced and fast parts and as the song moves on you can hear some background atmospheric sounds and towards the end the song starts going into a more slow direction.
"Damned Is Eternity" begins with some mid paced black metal guitar riffs and drums which leads to the vocals kicking in after that as well as the song taking a more fast and primitive direction and you can hear some bass guitars in the background before slowing down and adding in some deeper demonic vocals which then leads to the song switching back and forth between slow and fast parts and after a few minutes the song goes into a slower direction ofr a few seconds before returning to its fast and primitive roots.
"Darkness Hate Triumph" begins with some fast, primitive and melodic guitar riffs along with some screams and blast beats as well as some primitive bass guitars which also leads to some deeper vocals before slowing down for a few seconds and adding in some death metal elements which in return leads to the song switching back and forth between slow and fast parts and towards the end there is a brief use of guitar leads.
"Dead Winter's Serenade" begins with some slow guitar and bass riffs which lead to some drums and black metal vocals and after awhile the song starts mixing in atmospheric elements along with some melody before going into a more fast and primitive direction along with some blast beats and after awhile the song goes more into a mid paced and melodic direction while also speeding up at times and adding in some synths which also leads to the song getting fast and primitive again and then the song starts switching back and forth between slow, mid paced and fast as well as bringing in some melodic guitar leads at times.
"Beyond The Threshold Of Chaos" begins which some synths and acoustic guitars and serves as an outro for the album.
Song lyrics cover darkness, war and occult themes, while the production has a very heavy, raw and primitive sound while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the album along with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Wardaemonic are a very great sounding ancient and streamlined black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album.
