Vanskopun are a 1 man band from Iceland that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of this project's 2013 ep "Alsaela Gegnum Endurfaedingu" which was released by Barghest.
"Genesis 6:17" begins with some slow and dark guitar riffing which leads to some drums kicking in and after awhile there is a brief use of clean playing before the heaviness returns along with some grim black metal vocals.
"Botnlaust Tomio Hungrar" begins with some dark black metal guitar riffs which leads to some vocals, drums and powerful bass playing and after a minute more vocals come in and take the song into a more fast and primitive direction for awhile along with some depressive elements before going into a more mid paced direction while keeping around some of the primitive elements and aster awhile t he music slows down again and brings in some dark sounding melodies into the riffing before mixing in slow primitive black metal parts.
"Alsaela Gegnum Endurfaedingu" begins with some slow guitar riffs which leads to some faster drums as well as going into a more true black metal direction setting up the mood for the vocals to kick in and as the song moves in it starts switching back and forth between slow and fast parts and you can hear some bass guitars in certain parts as the song evolves as well as some primitive guitar riffing.
Song lyrics are written in Icelandic and cover Death Worship themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound with most of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Vanskopun are a very great sounding death worship black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Botnlaust Tomio Hungrar". RECOMMENDED BUY.
