This is a review of an earlier recording from Moonknight with the music being a raw and primitive form of black metal with the album being called "Toplov" and released by Universal Consciousness.
"Zelator" begins with primitive black metal guitar riffs and drums which lead to some grim sounding screams which also get high pitched at times and the background has a static feeling to it and after awhile the riffing goes into a slower direction while also keeping around some noisier elements.
"Subhuman Fuck" begins with some fast and primitive guitar riffs which lead to some deep growls along with some drum beats in the background and after awhile the vocals start evolving more into black metal screams.
"Assassin 4" begins with some fast and primitive guitar riffs, blast beats and grim sounding high pitched screams and the song is only a minute long.
"Nuclear Dreams" begins with some slow primitive guitar riffs and drums and after awhile the vocals start kicking in.
"Absurd Horizons" begins with some distorted drone sounds which also come out of the guitars and a minute later the screams kick in and the song goes into a more black metal direction.
"T-Cemizo" begins with some primitive guitar riffs which use elements of both black metal and punk along with some drums and melodies making their way into the riffing and the song has no vocals with the music being all instrumental.
"Morbid Gate" begins with some and dark heavy guitar riffs and after awhile grim vocals and fast drums make their way into the song along with some blast beats and then then the riffing starts getting more fast and primitive sounding along with the vocals getting alot more higher pitched in certain sections of the song.
"Sorceror" begins with some primitive style black/thrash guitar riffs and drums and a minute later high pitched black metal screams make their presence known in the song as well as some old school melodies.
"Phaeton" begins with some slow and primitive guitar riffs and a few seconds later grim screams start making their presence known in the song as well as some drums.
"Idekonfuzo" begins with primitive guitar riffs, fast riffs, and deep growls which then evolve into black metal screams while also keeping around some of the growls.
"S-TA" begins with some distorted guitar riffs which also get darker as time passes by and then they get more fast and primitive along with some drums and high pitched screams as well as mixing in some melody into the riffing and towards the end there is a brief use of blast beats being utilized.
"Witch Fever" begins with some primitive guitar riffs which then lead to some high pitched screams as well as some background drum beats.
"Ualac 12" begins with some fast primitive guitar riffs and drums along with some screams kicking in shortly after that.
"Duchamp" begins with some sound effects that take the music into a more drone direction and after a couple of minutes black metal vocals make their way into the song.
Song lyrics cover dark, occult, violent and hateful themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Moonknight and if you are a fan of raw and primitive sounding black metal, you should check out t his album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Subhuman Fuck" "Absurd Horizons" "Sorceror" and "Witch Fever". RECOMMENDED BUY.
