Terra Deep are a 1 man band from Springfield, Oregon that plays cascadian black metal with progressive elements and this is a review of his 2011 demo which was released by Glossolalia Records.
"Black Water Come" begins with some nature and ambient/drone sounds along with some dark sounding synths which lead to some acoustic guitars kicking in shortly after that and then the high pitched black metal screams kick in along with some slow and primitive guitar riffs and drums but after that melody becomes a part of the song and then it goes into a faster direction along with some blast beats briefly before going back to a slower and atmospheric direction and then s witching back and forth between slow and fast parts and the song closes with some acoustic guitars.
"Interlude" begins with sound effects and soft acoustic guitars which utilize both finger picking and full chords as well as serving as an into for the nest song.
"Perpetua" begins with some nature sounds before going into some fast and primitive guitar riffs and drums which also lead to some high pitched screams kicking in shortly after that and then the song starts switching back and forth form mid paced and fast riffs as well as bringing some melody in the riffing during certain parts.
"Void" begins with some distorted parts before going into some dark guitar riffing and after some bass guitars and drums come in the fast and primitive guitar riffs and high pitched screams start kicking in and as the song starts moving in it brings in melodic riffing and deep growls before getting fast again along with some blast beats and then the song slows down again and adds in a melodic guitar lead along with some progressive elements shortly after that which leads to the return of a more fast and primitive direction.
Song lyrics cover nature, depression and anti human themes, while the production has a very dark, heavy, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Terra Deep are a very great sounding primitive cascadian black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Water Come" and "Void". RECOMMENDED BUY.
