This is another review of an album from Wardaemonic which continues their ancient and streamline approach to black metal with the recording being self released in 2010 and called "Echoes Of Ageless Flames".
"Vigil Tenebre Pt 1 - The Precepts Of Salvation" begins with some distorted sound effects along with some synths kicking in a minute later which leads up to some primitive black metal guitar riffing and after awhile you can hear some drums and grim black metal screams and you can also hear some melodic leads.
'"Vigil Tenebre Pt 2 - Thrones Of Possession" begins with some fast, primitive guitar riffs, blast beats and grim vocals and a minute it slows down and you hear some bass and melodic leads before returning back to its more primitive roots as well as switching back and forth between mid paced and fast parts.
'Vigil Tenebre Pt 3 - From The Ancient Depths" begins with some fast, melodic, primitive guitar riffs, drums and high pitched, grim screams and a minute later there is a brief use of melodic guitar leads and after awhile there are also some blast beats being utilized at times.
'Vigil Tenebre Pt 4 - Dark Water's Confines" begins with some slow and melodic guitar riffs, drums and grim vocals and a minute later there is a brief use of guitar leads which mix in with the heavier parts.
'Vigil Tenebre Pt 5 - Fragments Of Dissolution" begins with some primitive and melodic guitar riffs, fast drums and grim screams and a couple of minutes later the song starts switching back and forth between mid paced and fast parts as well as mixing a brief use of clean singing vocals into the song.
'Echoes Of Ageless Flames" begins with some fast primitive black metal guitar riffs, distorted riffs and blast beats before adding int some melody and vocals while also remaining heavy all at the same time as well as switching back and forth between mid paced and fast parts and a few minutes later there is a brief use of guitar solos and leads.
'The Incarnate Etherial Of Nine" begins with some clean guitar playing along with some drums kicking in a minute later and after awhile t here are some melodic clean singing vocals being utilized.
'Aeons Of Perdition" begins with some fast and primitive black metal guitar riffs, blast beats and grim vocals before adding in some powerful bass guitars and death metal influenced mid paced sections and then t he song starts switching back and forth between the fast and mid paced sections as well as mixing in some slow and melodic riffing at times and as the song moves on you can hear some atmospheric elements in the background and the song closes with some thunderstorm sounds.
"Veils Of Winter Mysticism" begins with nature sounds and synths and this song is an instrumental piece that serves as an intro for the next song and is under 2 minutes.
"Paths To Silence" begins with some melodic guitar riffs, bass guitars, drums and clean singing vocals which then evolve into some grim sounding black metal screams but still using the melodic vocals in certain parts and after a few minutes the song goes into a more fast and primitive direction along with some blast beats as well as a brief use of guitar leads being brought into the mix and then the song starts switching back and forth between mid paced and fast parts while still using guitar leads at times as well as bringing back the melodic vocals and the song closes with nature sounds.
"Summoning Of The Muse" which is a Dead Can Dance cover begins with clean singing, melodic guitar riffs and drums and after awhile grim sounding black metal screams become a part of the song before going into a more fast and primitive direction along with some blast beats and shortly after t hat there is a brief use of spoken word parts before slowing down and going back to its melodic roots and closing with some classical guitars.
Song lyrics cover darkness and mysticism themes with the first 5 songs having a concept to them, while the production has a very heavy, raw and primitive sound while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording along with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Wardaemonic and if you are a fan of ancient black metal, you should check out this recording.
