Lonesummer are a 1 man band from Pennsylvania that has been featured before in this zine with a musical style that combines raw black metal, noise and shoegaze and this is a review of their 2010 demo "Satisfaction Feels Like A Tomb" which was released by Starlight Temple Society.
"Mundane Dreams About Flash Foods" begins with some harsh noise sounds along with some growls in the backgrounds which leads to some drums and fast, primitive black metal guitar riffs as well as some post rock sounding synths.
"Demarol Smile" begins with some shoegaze style guitars and drum programming which leads to some depressive black metal screams and as the song moves on synths are added and mix with the guitar riffs which also start utilizing some post rock style sounds.
"I'm Sorry/Its Okay" begins with some primitive and fast black metal riffs along with some drum programming and whispered screams and you can hear some atmospheric sounds in the background which are buried by the guitars.
"North Point Misery" begins with some primitive sounding post black metal guitar riffs and drums which lead to some high pitched depressive black metal screams and as the song moves on shoegaze style guitar leads make their way into the mix.
"We've Lost A Day" begins with some noise/power electronic sounds which also mixes in harsh drum beats and after awhile you can hear some high pitched screams in the background.
"Hyalophagia" begins with some fast primitive black metal guitar riffs, programmed blast beats and suicidal cries and after a minute it goes into sound effects, samples and spoken word parts.
9-25" begins with some clean guitar playing which also brings in elements of post rock and there are no vocals present with t he song being all instrumental.
"Watch The Walls Instead" starts out with some noise sounds and drum programming which also has a black metal feeling to it and after awhile spoken word samples start kicking in and towards the end you can hear electronic music elements in the noise sounds.
"Satisfaction Feels Like A Tomb" starts off with some primitive black metal/punk guitar riffing and drum programming which leads to some high pitched screams that combine black metal and harsh noise together and after a minute the song goes more into an experimental noise direction.
"I Miss You Still. Ma Bete" begins with nature effects and soft clean guitars before getting heavy with the drum beats and fast, primitive guitar riffs that combine with some melodic vocals which are mixed down low in the mix.
"No More Bonfires" begins with some acoustic guitar playing and percussion work before going into heavy post metal style guitar riffs, programmed drum beats and black metal screams and towards the end there is some suicidal spoken word parts.
Song lyrics cover family, loneliness, and death, while the production has a very raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Lonesummer and if you are a fan of raw black metal mixed with noise and shoegaze, you should check out this demo.
