Ravnblod are a 1 man band from Austin, Texas that plays a very raw and primitive form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2012 demo.
"Grav" begins with some nature sounds which lead to some raw and primitive black metal guitar riffs and melodic chanting along with some drums kicking in shortly after that and then the vocals start getting more aggressive and turning into screams while being mixed down low in the mix as well as the riffing and drums getting alot faster before the song slows down and the vocals start combining melody and grim elements together and towards the end the song starts bringing in some pianos.
"Nedfelt" begins with some raw and primitive guitar riffs and grim black metal vocals along with some drums in the background and as time goes by the vocals start utilizing some deeper elements as well as the music getting distorted as well as bringing in some weird sounding elements along with some small parts of melody which leads to the music going more into a drone direction and adding in spoken word parts.
"Kalken" begins with some fast, primitive and melodic guitar riffs along with some bass guitars, drums and grim vocals before going into a more mid paced direction and then making switches back and forth between fast and mid paced parts and after awhile the music slows down and adds in some melodic clean singing.
"Pa Reisen" begins with nature and ambient sounds and after awhile you can hear some tribal beats and melodic chanting
Song lyrics cover self sacrifice, doubt, anti christian, isolation and indulgence themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Ravnblod are a very great sounding raw and primitive black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Grav" and "Kalken". RECOMMENDED BUY.
