0 The Experiment/Self Titled/2013 Full Length Review

  O  The  Experiment  are  a  1  man  band  from  Greece  that  plays  a  very  experimental  form  of  black  metal  with  only  bass  guitars  and  vocals  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  and  self  titled  2013  album.

  "Prophet  In  Blood"  begins  with  some  heavy  bass  guitars  which  lead  to  some  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  as  the  song  moves  on  the  bass  guitar  starts  bringing  in  some  leads.

  "Black  Elf"  begins  with  some  slow  and  heavy  bass  guitar  riffs  that  utilize  some  variety  and  a  minute  later  high  pitched  screams  become  a  part  of  the  song  and  after  awhile  the  bass  guitars  get  more  aggressive  for  a  few  seconds  before  slowing  down  and  after  awhile  you  can h ear  some  post  black  metal  style  riffing before  going  into  another  solo.

  "D.I.E  (Death  Is  Electic)"  begins  with  some  heavy  amp  distortion  sounds  which  brings  in  experimental  sounds  along  with  some  background  grim  black  metal  vocals  which  start  getting  more  high  pitched  towards  the  end.

  "The  River"  begins  with  heavy  bass  guitar  riffs  which  leads  to some  depressive  black  metal  screams  which  take  over  for  a  few  minutes  before  the  bass  guitars  return   and  start  getting  heavier  towards  the  end.

  'Waiting  For  Something  To  Die  To  Eat"  begins  with  some  bass  power  chords  and  a  minute  later  grim  screams  make  their  way  into  the  song  and  after  awhile  the  bass  starts  bringing  in  some  single  note  riffing  while  also  keeping  around  the  power  chords.

  "Demon"  begins  with  some  fast  and  primitive  black  metal  bass  guitar  riffs  and  after  awhile  they  slow  down  and  start  mixing  in  with  some  dark  ambient  elements  which  lead  to  some  black  metal  vocals  and  after  awhile  the  bass  starts  utilizing  some  doom  metal  elements  but  still returning  to  the  faster  parts  at  times.

  "Ritual  To  Nothingness"  begins  with  some  dark  bass  guitar  playing  and  after  awhile  it  starts  bringing  in  other  sounds  and  a  few  minutes  later  there  are  some  spoken  word  parts  being  utilized.

  Song  lyrics  cover  dark  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  O  The  Experiment  are  a  very  great  sounding  experimental  black  metal  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Prophet  In  Blood"  "Waiting  For  Something  To  Die  To  Eat"  and  "Demon".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
