Poland's Blaze Of Perdition have returned with a new recording which continues the modern occult black metal style of previous releases and this is a review of their 2020 album"The Harrowing Of Hearts" which will be released on February 14th by Metal Blade Records.
Programmed beats start off the album before going into a heavier direction while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can tremolo picking can also be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while spoken word parts can also be heard briefly as well as the music also having its atmospheric moments.
Clean playing can also be heard on some of the tracks as well as the music also bringing in elements of gothic rock. Whispered vocals are also added on some of the songs along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized, synths can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based upon the Christian concept of "The Harrowing Of Hell" which is Christ's descent into hell but with a more Jungian concept of shadow integration and some metaphysical concepts.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Blaze Of Perdition and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Suffering Made Bliss" "What Christ Has Kept Apart" and "Moonchild". 8 out of 10.
