Vintlechkeit are a band from Norway that plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 compilation album "Svartskogen, svartvinter.../Dodssted..." which will be released on March 16th by Eternal Death and consists of a couple of demos they released in 2019.
Ambient style synths and soundscapes start off the compilation and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times. Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard while the music also gets very atmospheric sounding at times. Throughout the compilation you can also hear a decent ,mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some clean playing also being added on some of the tracks.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling as well as one of the tracks also being an ambient instrumental. Demonic growls, whispers and field recordings can also be heard briefly and the music also returns back to a black metal direction on the closing song and also introduces melodic riffing onto the compilation. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover darkness, death and winter themes.
In my opinion Vintlechkeit is a very great sounding raw, atmospheric and ambient black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Svartvinter" and "Dodssted". 8 out of 10.
