Dawn Of Ouroboros are a band from California that plays a progressive and atmospheric mixture of post black and death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "The Art Of Morphology" which will be released in March by Rain Without End Records.
Nature sounds start off the album along with some clean playing a few seconds later while the music also gets very progressive sounding at times. Whispers can also be heard in some parts of the recording as well as the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Vocals are mostly blackened metal screams while the tremolo picking also gives the music more of a raw feeling when it is utilized. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Death metal growls are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording as well as a couple of the tracks being very long and epic in length. Clean playing is also added on some of the other tracks along with some female vocals and spoken word parts also being utilized on some songs.
The music also mixes in a great amount of post black metal elements along with some keyboards and classical music elements also being added in certain sections of the recording and the album also closes with an instrumental. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover themes from horror manga series to the seriousness of profound losses and mental anguishes.
In my opinion Dawn Of Ouroboros are a very great sounding progressive and atmospheric mixture of post black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Pinnacle Induced Vertigo" "Spiral of Hypnotism" and "Sorrow's Eclipse". 8 out of 10.
