Yaldabaoth are a band from Alaska that plays a dissonant and satirical mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "That Which Wets The Saccharine Palate" which will be released on February 29th by Aesthetic Death.
Clean playing starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them, Vocals are a mixture of high pitched black metal screams and death metal growls along with the solos and leads are being done in a very distorted yet melodic style.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. At times the music also gets very dissonant sounding as well as some of the tracks being very long and epic in length and throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Clean playing also returns on some of the later songs and as the album progresses a brief use of synths can also be heard along with the music also having its progressive and technical moments. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Yaldabaoth are a very great sounding satirical and dissonant mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Fecund Godhead Deconstruction" and "Moch Divine Fury". 8 out of 10.
